Simple Solutions for Organizing Your Art Supplies
Before diving into the studio tour, join me as I tidy up my messy space, with art supplies scattered everywhere from previous Tune In Tuesday demos!
My Must-Have Organizational Tools:
- Rolling Drawers from Michael’s: These versatile drawers come in sets of five and lock together. I label each drawer based on its contents, like papers for layering, stamps, and other essentials. I reorganize them every year or two to keep my most important supplies easily accessible.
- Round Rolling Paint Cart: One of my all-time favorite tools, this cart houses my most-used paints, including the primary colors, black, white, and gold, all neatly separated by color.
- Kitchen Supply Rack for Shop Towels: After washing and rinsing my shop towels, I let them dry here. This simple rack keeps them organized and ready for action.
- Skinny Rolling Cart from a Bath Store: Perfect for storing essentials like scissors, palette knives, and paintbrushes. I also use small compartments to separate pencils and pens by color, making them easy to find.
- IKEA Cabinets and Plastic Boxes: These are essential for storing a wide range of supplies. I label everything—from empty bottles and office supplies to fine liner bottles and pipettes.
- Art Table on Rollers: The heart of my studio, where all my creating and filming happens. It’s basically a kitchen island on wheels, allowing me to move it around easily. I store frequently used supplies underneath for easy access.
- IKEA Rolling Cart: Ideal for storing other often-used supplies like deli paper, glues, and favorite pens/pencils.
- Letter Organizers as Stencil Dryers: These keep my stencils in good shape after washing.
- Black Lateral File Cabinet: This cabinet stores all my collage papers, organized by color, keeping everything neat and accessible.
- IKEA Boxes Under My Long Art Biz Table: These boxes store items I don’t use every day but need to keep long-term.
- Rolling Project Cart from Temu: This cart helps me keep critical projects organized and within reach. It’s perfect for accessing everything I need for Collage Joy, Collage Kickstart, and other upcoming projects.
- Bookshelf for Papers: This shelf holds papers waiting to be used for collage paper making. I use in/out boxes placed upside down to store various types of paper, making it easy to pull what I need when experimenting for Tune In Tuesday demos.
- IKEA Shelves in the Hallway: These shelves store my finished collages.
And a bonus must-have “supply”—a disco ball 🪩! When the sun hits it just right, it creates beautiful sparkles across the ceiling, adding a touch of magic to my workspace.
